Abstract

The review is devoted to the issue of the participation of scientists of the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the development of the theory of inertial navigation and its applications. The authors tried to capture the period with a retrospective view from 30-40 years of the past century, when scientists with the world names of academician M.O. Lavrentyev and O.Yu. Ishlinsky began to attract the Institute's scientists to carry out research related to the defense, and subsequently to the missile and space issues. The list of main works in this direction is given and a general analysis of the research is provided.
